Microsoft Security Update Fallout

In August 2025, Microsoft released update KB5063875 for Windows 10 and early Windows 11 versions. While intended as a security fix, the update caused a major fault: recovery tools such as Reset this PC, Fix problems using Windows Update, and Remote Wipe were disabled.

Microsoft has since issued corrective out-of-band updates, KB5066189 (Windows 11) and KB5066188 (Windows 10). These must be applied immediately to restore recovery functionality.
